Creating Logistics Results with Dematic

As part of a global restructure, the Distribution and Industry Division of Siemens has been formed into a new company to be known as Dematic.
The newly formed Dematic brings together all of the logistics and distribution systems specialists within Siemens under one new global business structure.
Dematic will be totally focused on the logistics and distribution systems markets, with responsibility for Airports & Postal Automation activities remaining within Siemens.
With more than $1.2 billion turnover and 4500 employees, Dematic is a formidable member of the global logistics and materials handling industry.
“As Dematic, we will continue to leverage our global logistics knowledge and expertise, while locally we will continue to offer outstanding system/business solutions, manufacturing, implementation, service and support,” said Stephen Reeve, Managing Director, Dematic Pty Limited.
The new global business structure brings together the benefits of seven Regional Competence Centres and four Global Industry Groups:
- Grocery & General Merchandise
- Wholesale & Direct
- Food & Beverage
- Manufacturing
In Australia alone, Dematic Pty Limited employs 300 people, of whom more than two thirds are qualified mechanical, electrical, electronics and software engineers and service technicians, making it one of Australia’s leading expert engineering companies.
Dematic will build on the outstanding reputation for excellence in logistics and distribution systems design, manufacturing, project management, service and support established over the past 40 years through various business transitions from Colby to Mannesmann to Siemens.
Dematic’s Logistics Systems group will carry on developing innovative, customer focussed distribution solutions. The Real Time Logistics group will continue to deliver best of breed integrated logistics IT systems, with Colby Storage Solutions continuing to provide outstanding value and great service through a national network of storage system experts.
Mr Reeve added: “The transition to Dematic will be seamless for our customers. They will to all intents still be dealing with the same business, the same people, in fact, the only difference we expect them to see is a new name on the paperwork.
“Operationally everything else stays the same as it was, with the new business structure offering us the opportunity for greater global economies of scale, and better access to and more effective use of global resources, which will translate into lower costs and more innovative and greater value solutions for customers.” |
