One of the applications featured in the new guide to Storage Systems illustrates an interesting combination of high density storage and low level order picking.

Two Double Deep Racks face into each other to create a dedicated order picking aisle for pedestrian access only (note the overhead safety guard preventing forklift access in the aisle). The rear of the Double Deep Racks are fitted with wire mesh to prevent any products from falling and endangering people working in the aisle.

The bottom levels of the racks are fitted out with Colby’s Pallet Live Storage system. With Pallet Live Storage, as one pallet is emptied and removed from the rack, the pallet immediately behind it rolls gently into place on specially designed roller tracks, eliminating the need for urgent pick face replenishments and ensuring automatic stock rotation.
